Are Books Bad For the Environment?

While it may seem that books are bad for the environment, this isn’t always the case. Paper books

While there is no direct evidence that e-readers are harmful for the environment, the manufacturing process still imposes a significant carbon footprint. An average paperback weighs about 600 grams, and requires about 17 trees to produce the material. E-readers require a lot more paper, though. Each tree produces about 59 kilograms of paper. That’s more than enough to produce a 400-page paperback. So if you want to make an environmental impact, you shouldn’t buy e-readers.

Recycled paper

Recycled paper is an excellent way to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and methane that are released into the environment.
